Power Generation

Power Generation is driven by two main trends, the maximisation of the energy conversion yield and the growing use of fuels alternative to hydrocarbons.

Refractory linings contribute to these two promising areas of growth. Thermal insulation can be considerably improved by insulating linings made of light bricks, ceramic fibers or foams. Moreover the temperatures used in power turbines also command the ultimate energetic yield of the power plant. Vesuvius provides products and solutions for such a demand.

Alternative fuel includes domestic and industrial waste which, during their incineration, create specific requirements for refractories that are able to withstand extremely corrosive slags. Conversion of waste to energy will develop as a solution to the necessary limitation of land filling.
