FEEDEX K Spot Feeding Technology to reduce Iron Returns and Cleaning Costs

The application of FEEDEX K technology allows the maximum casting yield to be achieved, reducing iron returns to a minimum. Due to the highly efficient exothermic feeder sleeve, the volume of the feeder is reduced by more than 90% compared to an equivalent sand riser.

 

In the exemple illustrated, a saving potential of 32.1 kg iron returns per casting is achieved. This equals a reduction of 4.49 kg of coke per casting and results in a reduction of CO2 emissions of 14.6 kg per casting.

 

On the basis of 150,000 castings per year, the following reductions are achieved:

  • 4,815 t iron returns / year
  • 673.5 t coke / year - 5,051 MWh / year (calorific value)
  • 1,605 t CO2 emissions / year
