Ceramic technology

Our fundamental expertise is centred on ceramic materials that must withstand extreme usage conditions of our products. Some application temperatures exceed 1,600°C in aggressive molten metal, glass or slag resulting in considerable thermomechanical and thermochemical stresses. As the required properties cannot be designed in a single material, Vesuvius has developed composite products with engineered microstructures.

The fine balance between thermal and physical properties is elaborated with state of the art analytical equipments. Fitness is confirmed by computer simulations and physical evaluations in pilot equipments reproducing real usage conditions.
