Refractories are essential to many processes involving high temperatures, especially in the steel, glass and foundry industries. But despite the fact that “globalisation“ has become a buzzword in today’s world markets, relatively few refractory producers are truly global.
Vesuvius is one of the few exceptions to this rule. We started to build up global presence at a very early stage in the development of isostatically pressed refractories for continuous steel casting. Having been intimately involved in the industry's conversion from ingot casting around the world. Now with 50 manufacturing sites, we work closely with a wide range of customers throughout the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

We are committed to working as partners with our customers to ensure we address their needs quickly. Today we employ about 8’000 people of 43 nationalities who relate not only to local cultures, but also to the very specific business priorities and work processes of the individual customers they serve.

Many of our people work at customers' site operating as an integral part of their teams. Their role is to leverage Vesuvius’ global know-how and capabilities to ensure outstanding levels of service, providing the best refractory products, anticipating challenges, identifying solutions and developing new technologies as and when required. Our investment in research and development is therefore a major component of this approach.
