VESUVIUS is the largest producer of slide gate refractories worldwide offering an extensive range of ceramic and carbon bonded slide gate refractory materials for a wide range of applications.
Slide Gate Plates: A full range of plates have been designed to fit the VESUVIUS family of Slide Gate Systems and the majority of other systems available worldwide. Working in conjunction with VESUVIUS Systems engineering, we offer optimised refractory designs for all steel plant operations.
Nozzles and Well Blocks: A full range of nozzle materials and designs within the VESUVIUS product portfolio, compliments our range of plates. We are able to tailor refractory materials and designs to suit customers' individual requirements. Well blocks can also be supplied to complete the refractory stack-up.
Slide Gate Refractory Product Portfolio
A wide range of refractory materials, to achieve consistent and reliable high performance in all areas of slidegate applications, is available. Balanced refractory life of plates, nozzles and well blocks insures the most cost effective operation.
 Specifically engineered physical, chemical and mineralogical compositions of high purity refractory oxides, prime additives and specialized processing ensure high corrosion and erosion resistance, optimum thermal shock resistance and other key product properties required to yield optimum performance.
 Optimized Plate Design
Cracks developed during application cannot be avoided but they can be controlled. In depth finite element studies are carried out to optimize slide gate plate design.
This work is aimed at achieving improved performance by predicting thermo-mechanical behaviour and creating the required stress pattern within the refractory materials.
New designs allow optimum performance to be achieved with materials that are currently available.
As a result of fine-tuning between these new plate designs and the key mechanical slide-gate properties, new families of slide gate systems have been introduced.
