Coatings for Sand Moulds and Cores
The high casting temperatures associated with steel foundries requires careful selection of refractory materials, to ensure full protection against metal penetration and burn-on defects.
The range of coatings utilise high purity zirconium silicate or metal oxide refractories to offer protection under the most extreme casting conditions.
A full range of specialist products is also available to cover specific applications, such as the high demands of manganese steel, highly alloyed stainless steels or metal penetration due to hot spots or high metallostatic pressures.

Flow coating equipment
The equipment consists of three main parts: the pressure tank, the control box and the catchment tray. It operates on the principle of displacement of the coating from the tank via a flexible hose by use of low pressure compressed air.
No other power source is required and the low degree of wear due to the absence of mechanically moving parts in contact with the coating is of special advantage.
Full Mould and Lost Foam Processes
The SEMCO perm and STYROMOL ranges of water based coatings are designed to promote excellent surface finish and dimensional stability of the polystyrene pattern. Permeability and composition have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of lost foam.

Spun Pipe and Rolls
SPUNCOTE are specialist products formulated to provide a permeable coating with very low gas evolution for the centrifugal casting process. They can also assist metal flow and promote easier stripping of the finished casting.
SPUNCOTE 300 is a water-based refractory zircon coating, suitable for the production of rolls.
SPUNCOTE SS is a water-based refractory non zircon coating, suitable for the production of centrifugally cast steel tubes/liners.
