Vesuvius’ Human Rights Policy reflects principles contained within the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organisation’s Fundamental Conventions on Labour Standards and the United Nations Global Compact. Our policy expressly prohibits forced, compulsory or child labour in any form and applies to both ourselves and those who wish to work with us.

The policy applies to all Group employees, sets out the principles for our actions and behaviour in conducting our business and provides guidance to those working for us on how we approach human rights issues. The ethical requirements of our Policy apply to all other persons acting on behalf of or representing Vesuvius. If our policy and/or procedures are more stringent than local laws, we will adhere to our own standards. If a local law is more stringent than our principles, we will comply accordingly, using our Policy as a guideline.

Our policy contains the following commitments:

  • Employees: We are committed to promoting an environment where individual human rights issues are identified and upheld, ensuring that each employee is treated fairly and without discrimination
  • Local communities: We seek to respect the human rights of, and to develop an understanding of, the cultures, customs and values that prevail in the local communities in which we work
  • Health and safety: We are committed to work towards a goal of zero injuries in the workplace. We strive to provide an environment of general wellbeing in the workplace as endorsed by our on-going safety campaign. Please see our Safety commitment.
  • Labour: Vesuvius opposes the use of, and will not use, forced, compulsory or child labour. Our employees, contractors and suppliers are entitled to work in an environment and under conditions that respect their human rights and dignity.
