Hot Stamping (or Hot Forming) is a relatively new process chosen by the automotive industry to produce lightweight steel parts with high mechanical strength which is used for car body assembling. The heat treatment process is performed predominantly in roller hearth furnaces at temperatures up to 950°C. Vesuvius offers ceramic rollers used for the conveying process of both uncoated and Al/Si coated steel blanks in such furnaces.
ZYAROCK® Host-ETM roller benefits
- Less downtime
High thermal shock resistance, high purity and low thermal expansion means less bending, lower reactivity, consistent performance leading to longer life time.
- Precise and safe conveyance
Roller surface texturing facilitates the accurate transport of each steel blank through the full furnace cycle.
- Increased value, lower costs
The solid roll design reduces heat loss near the drive system thereby reducing the costs of maintenance, component, replacement, and lost production time
ZYAROCK® HoSt-MTM roller benefits
- Process reliability
No roller breakage ensures continuous operation causing no unpredictable production shut downs and increases furnace OEE, roller life time of at least 6 months linked to a preventive furnace maintenance program to ensure a stable and reliable line availability.
- Reduction of operational costs
Predictable roller life time and resistance to roller surface build up ensures stable 24/7 operation, reduction of rejects by avoiding steel part displacement which is traditionally caused by high grade of surface build-up. The enhanced resistance to surface build-up will result in a higher production output by avoiding production down time and significant reduced maintenance work to remove and clean rollers that are not resistant to surface attack.
- Increase operators safety and maintenance efficiency
Improve safety standards and conditions for maintenance and furnace personnel by avoiding roller removal at temperatures close to 1000°C in case of failure or intolerable surface build-up.
